An article about Mitch Evans to race in the Le Mans 24 Hours this year for reigning LMP2 champion Jota Sport.

Mark Webber's protege will follow his mentor into LMP endurance racing, contesting not only Le Mans but also the second round of the FIA WEC at Spa in May.

The New Zealander will dovetail the endurance program with his third full season in GP2 with the Russian Time team.Evans is believed to have already tested the Jota Gibson LMP2 car briefly in Spain last month.Evans joins Simon Dolan and the recently announced Nick Yelloly in the team which will fight to retain its hard won 2014 Le Mans crown.

Evans effectively replaces Filip Albuquerque at Jota Sport, as the Portuguese will be part of the Audi Sport Team Joest squad in the #9 Audi R18 e-tron quattro at Spa and Le Mans.Jota Sport is believed to have initially contacted Evans after assessing many drivers over the winter after it realised Harry Tincknell would be leaving for Nissan Motorsports.Webber has also been instrumental in ensuring his charge gets endurance racing experience in parallel with his single- seater aspirations.

Evans is planned to test the car at Paul Ricard .
